  • Luxurious Hideaway on California’s Central Coast

PASO ROBLES, CA—I may never get over how the once sleepy, cowboy town we remember as Paso Robles, on California’s Central Coast, has so thoroughly been transformed into a tourism powerhouse in less than fifteen years. Once known for its rodeos and ranches, today, the region has become renowned as California’s epicenter for world-class Rhône style wines and wineries. Lured by the growing reputation of the area’s wines, and demand from streams of visitors, a number of quality restaurants and luxury hotels have now proliferated.

One such outstanding accommodation, perfectly located in the old downtown part of town is the Hotel Cheval. Perhaps, this property, like no other in the county, is better positioned to attract and cater to the most discriminating of overnight guests.

The hotel’s interior design, architecture, and very atmosphere is seductive and sophisticated. It has no equal in the area and, with only a scant 16 rooms and suites, the ambiance remains quite intimate.

The lobby alone will remind you of a Hollywood movie set and yet it’s all surprisingly comfortable. I’ve seen many visitors, munching on house-made chocolate chip cookies while sitting on the sofa to the right, planning their day in Wine Country.

This location is where you’ll want to be, in the heart of downtown. It allows a very short walk to dinner and shopping.

But even if you prefer to stay put, there are numerous sitting areas that invite you to just “chill” and enjoy a glass of wine from their Pony Club.

The courtyard is utterly charming. This is a view from one of the upstairs rooms. As one wine-drinking guest confided to me while I was visiting: “Who needs a trip to Europe when you can come here!”

I had once toured the property but it was a couple of years ago. After taking in the sights and sounds of the courtyard, I wanted to refresh my memory and asked to see one of their rooms.

This is their “Feathers” deluxe category room. It’s what they call their “middle tier”. The bed looks great… Yes?

    …as are their lovely bathrooms!

…as is this nearby sitting area. This room also has a gas fireplace (not shown).

I was told that the Hotel Cheval currently has a Sunday-Thursday, November Special on this room category of $265.00. Blackout dates do apply… Hopefully I got the info. right. ;)

Of course, always contact the hotel direclty to confirm these special prices. Thanks.

The room category that is one tier down from the above shown “Feathers” room is also on special for $215 while their top tier category rate under this promotion is $315…. Yes, I know. November is nearly done. But, they’ve told me that there may be some type of December special coming as well. Do contact the hotel directly for details.

Sure, you can tell them that I recommended them. But, I don’t think it will get you any further discounts. :(

But maybe they’ll throw in an extra chocolate chip cookie!

If you want the utmost visitor experience at one of the best hotels in the area, give them a call. 805-226-9995. It’s absolutely great! Highly recommended.
