Another Meal at Roberts in Paso Robles, California
PASO ROBLES, CA—Recently, I promised readers of this blog that I’d stop by Roberts, once again, for dinner. I’ve had some very enjoyable meals there.

Creatures of habit, far too often, order the same entree over and over again. I’m afraid that’s me. We’ll this time, I decided to explore the menu just a bit. In the past I’ve had the Herb Crusted New Zealand Lamb Rack and a Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut. Both were GREAT.

But before anything, I was craving their house salad with blue cheese dressing. The waitress was very accommodating when I asked for a “substitution”. Instead of the requisite cherry tomatoes I received these regular slices. Such simple acts of kindness do not go unrewarded and will keep me coming back. :)
When I eat out, I rarely order steak. This is due to the fact that I’ve been terribly spoiled by such celebrated California Central Coast BBQ steak houses as Hitching Post and Far West Tavern.
The Grilled Beef Filet (in red wine sauce) sounded good…

… Garlic mashed potatoes and creamy spinach filled out this trio of comfort food. Well… Though it was good—the meal really didn’t do it for me this time. I have generally found that Filet is not blessed with the rich flavors of Rib Eye. It’s in the marbling of the fat, isn’t it?
I’m glad I branched out though, as there are many menu items to be sampled here. But, next time, I must retrogress to their incredible lamb rack. Then, on my next trip, I’ll start fresh and explore such tempting dishes as their Roasted Wild Mushroom Lasagna or Chicken Farfalle Pasta (with crispy bacon, peas and cream sauce).

Robert’s is certainly one of the best restaurants in Paso Robles. Always good service; great atmosphere; high-quality, fresh food; an excellent local wine list; and, as their repeat customers can certainly attest, the softest chairs (quickly becoming legendary), hand-crafted by Robert himself, which are even more comfortable than grandma’s house!
